Featured snippets on informational queries with AI Overviews enabled: down 67% in the verticals I track (logistics SaaS, HR tech, B2B manufacturing). The traffic isn’t gone, it’s being answered directly in the overview. The click doesn’t happen.
The implication for content strategy is structural, not cosmetic. You need two content tracks. One optimized for AI Overview citation (topical authority, entity richness, cite-ability). One optimized for click capture on queries AI doesn’t fully satisfy (comparison, vendor selection, localized intent).
